"I recall," Windhorst stated, "Anthony Davis' final season with the Pelicans, when I traveled to New Orleans for an interview during the pre-season. That day, the Pelicans faced off against the Raptors, and I was present to witness the Raptors, who had just acquired Leonard, in action. They were exceptionally impressive. There was a player, whom I had never seen play more than eight minutes in a half before, Pascal Siakam. He dominated the court. Leonard delivered a stellar performance, and VanVleet was equally impressive."
Upon attending the Rockets' match in Macau, I was struck by a similar sensation. Our previous trips to Australia and Manila were filled with numerous distractions, such as keeping an eye on Irving's performance and the thrill of witnessing Flagg play live for the first time. Yet, when the Rockets took the court, my thoughts were, 'Hold on, this team seems distinctly different.' We also engaged in conversations with Jabaari Smith Jr. and the Rockets' General Manager, Rafael Stone. I sensed an aura reminiscent of the Raptors from years past in this Rockets' roster. They possess a genuine chance at contention. Let me tell you, even before the Thunder faced injury issues, I held this belief. Now, while many point to the Thunder's injuries, I've been convinced of this for quite some time.
