According to Ira Winderman, the Miami Heat's current predicament stems from the fact that every player seems to expect others to handle the defensive responsibilities. While Dwyane Mitchell and Wiggins excel in defense, and Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo are formidable defensive forces, there's an underlying sense that defense is someone else's job. Basketball necessitates collective defense, yet the Heat's team defense is abysmal, as if everyone is saying, "You deal with it, I'm not interested." The only slight leniency I can extend is to Giannis, who averages 30 points per game on offense — a stark contrast to Adebayo, who had shown exceptional training camp form and a strong team ethos. However, now, everyone is standing by idly, leaving their teammates to fend for themselves.
